The arrangement went well for the most part, except for the time when dad John, returning home, pulled his car into the driveway and walked in as a scene was being filmed. Not only that, but the crew had to take care to avoid having his car and tire marks in the snow footage they were shooting. For decades now, people have visited the “Home Alone House” on Lincoln Avenue. “Most people who live on the street love it, and think it’s a lot of fun,” one nearby resident said in 2019.

For those of us who want to see Scarlett Johansson, she has a minor role as the sister. When Alex is explaining that the bad guys had Johnny Allen's dog and Allen said his dog was stolen, the police brush it off. Johnny Allen reporting his dog missing and Alex seeing the dog with the bad guys is sufficient enough evidence for Alex's story to have credibility.
Filming & Production
The thieves finally deduce that Alex has been watching them and decide to break into his house. Alex rigs the house with booby traps with help from his pet rat Doris and his brother's loud-mouthed parrot. Beaupre, Alice, Jernigan and Unger break in, spring the traps, and suffer various injuries. While the four pursue Alex around the house, he flees and rescues Mrs. Hess, who has been duct taped to a chair in her garage by Alice. Beaupre ambushes Alex, but the latter uses a bubble gun resembling a Glock to scare him off. As Peter, Kate, Buzz, and Megan arrive, Kevin — with Buzz and Megan's help — prevents a final escape attempt from Marv and Vera.
Meanwhile, FBI agents and Chicago PD officers arrive at Alex's siblings' school after a tipoff from the recruitment center. Alex's family brings the agents and the police to their house, where they arrest Alice, Jernigan, and Unger. The parrot drives the remote control car into the fort and threatens to light fireworks, which are lined around the inside. Beaupre offers a cracker in exchange for silence, but the parrot demands two. Since Beaupre has only one, the parrot then lights the fireworks and flees.

Macaulay Culkin refused to do this film, simply because he'd grown tired of the role, and felt that there was nothing else he could've done with it. Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times gave the film 3 out of 4 stars and said that he found it to be "fresh, very funny, and better than the first two." Fox Family Films was the division of 20th Century Fox responsible for the production on the film. Later, the Pruitts, Hess, and the authorities hold a celebration for Alex as the Pruitt house is being repaired, with Jack returning home from a business trip. Beaupre's group are shown to have contracted Alex's chickenpox during their mugshots.

While it may not have been as popular as the first two movies starring Macaulay Culkin, the third ‘Home Alone’ has all the elements of a great holiday flick, including a witty 8-year-old and a beautiful family home where he lays traps for the bad guys. While the movie’s storyline places it in Chicago, the house used in the third Home Alone is located in Evanston — a city 12 miles north of Downtown Chicago.
Understandably, the current owners don’t want to be that vocal about their ownership of one of the most popular houses in the country and haven’t been seen on camera. Unfortunately, that was a one-time-only event and the house is not available for regular rentals. The center of the Home Alone films, Kevin McCallister, was played by actor Macaulay Culkin.
Taking matters into his own hands, Kevin sets up booby traps for Marv and Vera. The next morning, the duo head to the house after Peter and Natalie go to pick up the royals. Kevin tricks and locks Mr. Prescott in the basement, but eventually discovers Marv and Vera's real ally is Molly, who is also Marv's mother. After several failed attempts to call Kate, Kevin escapes via the house's dumbwaiter and temporarily traps Marv underneath it. Marv and Vera pursue Kevin through the house, where they spring the traps and suffer various injuries, while Molly gets trapped in the house's elevator.
Whereas Home Alone 3 featured a standalone plot and new characters, this film brings back several of the main characters from the first two films, including Kevin McCallister, but with all of the roles played by different actors. The plot revolves around Kevin McCallister trying to defend his future stepmother's house from his old nemesis Marv and his sidekick/wife Vera. It was the last film that Rod Daniel directed before his subsequent retirement (partly due to his diagnosis from Parkinson's disease, complications of which resulted in his death in 2016). With the help of recruits Alice Ribbons, Earl Unger, and Burton Jernigan, Beaupre manages to acquire the chip from a contact in Silicon Valley. Home Alone 3 steers clear of the mistakes of the previous films, and makes all new ones.
Oh, and the back door down the set of stairs outside – that actually wasn’t real. A backhoe was brought in to dig up that part of the property so that a fake door and steps could be added in. Kevin’s treehouse was also specifically built for the film and ended up being taken down after filming wrapped. Alex Pruitt, an 8-year-old boy living in Chicago, must fend off international spies who seek a top-secret computer chip in his toy car. With four thieves looking to retrieve the toy car/computer chip gifted to Alex by his unknowing neighbor, Mrs. Hess, the movie’s plot tackles a far more dangerous situation that the first two, despite the light way in which it is presented. That’s not because of the plot, cast, or setting, but rather the result of the ultra-high expectations created by the first two Home Alone movies, and the fondness audiences had for Macaulay Culkin .
The next morning, Peter and Natalie go out while Kevin stays with Natalie's servants, Mr. Prescott the butler and Molly the maid. Kevin notices his old nemesis, Marv Murchins, and his wife, Vera, scouting the house. After failing to get Mr. Prescott's attention via the intercom, he drives them away by flooding the mansion. When Peter and Natalie return, they refuse to believe Kevin's explanation, especially since Mr. Prescott claims to have seen nothing. Kevin discovers that the security cameras were turned off during the break-in, leading him to believe that Mr. Prescott is in league with Marv and Vera. To cheer themselves up, Kevin, Peter, and Natalie decorate their Christmas tree, although it is later re-trimmed by professional decorators at Natalie's request.
Beaupre gets one from a boxing glove in the foyer's closet, causing him to fall on his gun. Then there's Alice giving one to Jernigan with a crowbar by mistake while trying to hit Doris the rat. It is implied the mob boss is a high-ranking member of the organization, disguised as a Hong Kong-based South Korean businessman. The unnamed Mob boss is the overarching antagonist of the 1997 film Home Alone 3. Verified reviews are considered more trustworthy by fellow moviegoers.
A mixup at airport security leaves Mrs. Hess with the microchip hidden in a remote control car. After Alex shovels Mrs. Hesses' driveway, she gives him the car as payment. The spies have tracked the chip to Alex's neighborhood, and faces off against Alex who is home sick with the chicken pox.
“It was a big deal having the movie filmed here, and it’s still a big deal. Any time I’m walking by that house, I see someone out in front, taking pictures.” As you can imagine, traffic picks up during the Christmas season when the movie takes place. While a large portion of the movie was filmed on a soundstage, shots of the home’s interior can still be found in the film. The scenes of the foyer’s grand staircase and the living room were the real-life Home Alone house. There were, however, some tiny changes made to facilitate some scenes in the film. For example, new wallpaper was added to make the house more festive.
